Non-Exhibiting Companies: Suitcasing & Outboarding

Show Management considers “suitcasing” and/or “outboarding” to be unethical business conduct and strictly prohibits both practices at the SHOT Show.  “Suitcasing” refers to the practice of companies or persons who come to the Show as attendees but “work the aisles” from their suitcase (briefcase), soliciting business from other attendees and exhibitors.  “Outboarding” refers to non-exhibiting companies who set up exhibits or events at off-site locations during the Show, such as hotel hospitality suites or nearby restaurants, and encourage attendees to leave the Show and spend time with them.   The only legitimate place to conduct business during the Show is on the show floor.  Only registered exhibitors and sponsors of the Show are allowed to conduct hospitality events during the Show.  Exhibiting companies are encouraged to protect their investment by reporting actual or suspected violations of the SHOT Show’s suitcasing/outboarding rules immediately to Management.

If at any time before the Show you learn of a non-exhibiting company not complying with the Show rules, immediately report this by calling Show Management at 702-216-5852 or e-mail During the SHOT Show, call the Show Office at 702-691-8508.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

The following guidelines must be adhered to by all non-exhibiting companies in attendance at the Show.

  1. Non-exhibiting companies may not approach buyers or exhibitors for the purpose of solicitation.
  2. Non-exhibiting company merchandise, samples, and catalogs are not permitted in the Show.
  3. Showrooms, hospitality suites or special presentations cannot be hosted by non-exhibiting companies anywhere in Las Vegas during set up and Show dates.
Please report any you hear about.

A non-exhibiting company breaking any of the rules will be removed from the Show and may be prohibited to attend or exhibit in future years.
